The Christian woman Jodi Grandy has lost her joy in the Lord of singing hymns and Christmas carols. And she goes one-by-one to try new things and new ways to get back once again that old magic of song in the Lord that she once had. First she starts to play cassette tapes of Christian music. Second she starts to play Christian songs on her wind instrument called the ‘recorder.’ Third she finds a Christian boyfriend who sings hymns for her. But each choice fails to give back to her her old love for the hymnbook. Behold, Jodi finds out that the illustrious evangelist and bagpipe player known as ‘the Evangel’ is coming to town.
